I just watched the wonderful film Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus by the fantastic director of the movie Secretary. Arbus was a ground-breaking documentary photographer who was drawn to the unusual and the freaky. This film imagines her transformation from a typical 50's wife supporting her husband's photography business to a blooming artist in her own right. Robert Downey Jr. plays a man who has the genetic disorder that grows hair all over a person's body, whom Arbus falls in love with. Definitely a unique love story.
I imagine I love the film so much because many of my passion fall in the freaky range and this director seems to have quite a talent for making the freaky seem perfectly normal.
